what's with the combination of smoking and fashion?

I guess this photos could actually let me ask... what is with the combination of fashion, smoking, tattoos, and boys (or ah boy in this case I suppose). I'm not condoning/promoting smoking... do what you want.

I just like the photo, and the denim.
